I don't like this.
I understand the algorithmic problem.
State actors constantly post information across the internet to mold narratives.
There is even a word for these people in Chinese
Wumao
Which means 50 cents for 50 cent army.
Also could translate that as fed posters accounting for culture differences.
Countries have a bigger budget and can make information look more real than it is. A user will see a disproportional amount of imformation slanting a certain direction and people tend to believe lots of information more than correct information.
The problem here is that it's accomplished with AI or worse simple if else branches. So any American trying to explain Russia's position is going to get deranked along with any post made by Russian Officials.
Rather than trying to limit the information we see, why not publicize the results of your studies that show how many post are coming out of Russia?
Study the flow of memes with hidden water marks.
These large companies are deciding what information we have access to and no one should have that kinda power.

another comment: over the summer people became aware that ddg was owned by leftists, so a lot of people jumped ship to another search engine anticipating this kind of thing like in the OP would happen eventually
Also this potentially "hateful" incident was not appreciated: "DuckDuckGo said no. But when I reapplied as a black lesbian who can’t speak English, they wanted me." https://lulz.com/community/thread/social-experiment-duckduckgo-hiring-racial-discrimination/
basically: it's over

I heard similar things from many big corporations (i.e. FAANG) HR departments. Luckily, smaller - mid-sized companies still tend to focus more on the actual skills of their applicants.

That's normal in big tech. I had a perfect Microsoft interview but the fourth interviewer was a Asian Women who said she was passionate about diversity and liked interviewing because she could make a difference. Me as a white man knew I had no chance after that.
