Howdy. This sub is getting biiiiigger.
This means we have more posts. This has benefits but it also has drawbacks, mainly that any place that is taken over by the unwashed masses will be significantly less cool. This sub should be cool, though, so we mods are thinking up CrEaTiVe SoLuTiOnS to keep things nice and cool. This means focusing on maintaining our comparative advantage; quality.
This is somewhat hard to do once a sub reaches 100,000 subscribers. We're getting closer to that number every day, and I think we've all seen enough subreddits just nosedive into nonsense at that number.
We want quality posts and comments here. Putting in place rules that encourage quality gets harder as more posts are made, and almost certainly would require moderator judgement rather than just having a computer do it all. That being said, in our experience users don't like rules that seem arbitrary or seem enforced in what can appear to be a selective way, so if we start throwing more rules onto the pile, that means we'll have more people breaking them on accident and the whole thing would be a disaster.
Therefore, we're asking YOU! Yes, YOU, precious commenter and poster, what sort of posts you would get rid of if you had the goal of increasing the quality of content in our sub, and prevent this subreddit being "Republicanified". That's right, we have an actual, legit meta thread today. Feel free to link examples, but remember: The most important rule in GNB is to be polite. Even if you're complaining about a specific post or a class of posts, be polite to those posting it and to us. We're looking for trends in posting that lower the quality of the sub, dilute the libertarian message, or otherwise make this sub less incredibly thought-provoking and intriguing.
NOTE: Know that us mods have magic powers, and can tell the difference between a regular libertarian poster and a non-libertarian GOP poster very easily. Don't do anything sneaky like try to get all your GOP friends to tell us you LIKE more GOP content because we can tell and we'll ignore it. :P
