I came across these a while back and was just reminded of them today. There were some other initial plans for Ryan Field back in the 20s and 30s that were never fulfilled unfortunately, both in my eyes way better than the infuriatingly asymmetrical mess that we got.
This is the first one, you can see it’s basically the one really good looking side mirrored, which alone would’ve been very nice and unique and fairly iconic in its own right.
Then you have this 80,000 seat 3-tiered design which looks just stunning. I’m pretty sure had this plan gone through it could’ve been a program-altering structure.
Is anyone aware of any other plans for their school that went unused? Football stadiums that weren’t built? Expansions or renovations that never happened? Even basketball arenas would be interesting.
