Your observation/comment actually hits something important, I think.
10 years ago people thought China would take over the world and started teaching kids Mandarin. Today China's older, much more debt re: Evergrande, rising wages pushing jobs to poorer countries, shortage of clean water, toxic air, "One Child" generation retiring soon, leaving nobody to run the economy.
20 years ago, USA was the ONLY superpower. Money, military and influence far more than the next 10 countries combined. Now it lost Syria/Iraq/Afg wars to ISIS and Taliban, Lefties poisoned the young, schools, colleges and big companies. Military is woke, CIA/FBI/NSA spy on presidents and public, USD is 2/3rds of 2000 value on paper, but in reality 1/2 to 1/3. America is self destructing.
So, who is the future today ? Russia ? No way. GDP of Spain, but 3x the population - 145 million. Old tanks and rockets won't pave the roads or make a free society with good quality of life.
Europe ? West Europe is a hellhole with no human rights since Covid. Central Europe is a bit better because old survivors of communism are fighting back. But Central Europe has 1/3 wages of USA. Eastern Europe has worse. Ukrainians are poor enough to want to illegally migrate to Central Europe. Ukrainians are still richer than Russians.
Asia ? Japan hates foreigners. Asia has a hellish work week, with little to no safety net. Salary is far less than the US. Govts are far more authoritarian in every Asian country than in the west. No freedom here.
Australia.... no need to explain.
TLDR: There's no country right now that is a beacon of hope. Only localities like Texas or Florida. Everywhere else is at best 'ok' but generally pretty horrible to settle and start a new life.

I think it would be quite beautiful. Difficulty depends on kind of fuel available. Some places are close to towns where you can buy coal, wood pellets or gas cylinders. Otherwise you have to chop wood.
I was in a Czech village in the south and had to chop wood to heat. Wood burns fast and you have to refill the stove every half hour. At night I kept it a hot water bottle to heat me under the blanket. My friends didn't know this trick, and were freezing. It was negative temp in the bedrooms. This village was same latitude as South Germany. In Siberia, it would be way worse.
