I’m currently reading Gunslinger by Jeff Pearlman. A fantastic Favre biography. I found this super fascinating and funny.

Brett Favre retired after the 2007 season, the Packers committed to Rodgers, then Favre decided to unretire. He was told he could come back as Rodgers’ backup which he wouldn’t do. He requested a trade to the Vikings. The Packers refused. Brett Favre said “I’m not good enough to play there, but I was too good to play against them.”

On a random summer day, Adam Schefter was having dinner at La Ginestra, an Italian bistro in Glen Cove, NY. Also having dinner there was Mike Tannenbaum, the GM of the Jets. Since Brett Favre was all over the news, the two started talking. Tannenbaum asked Schefter where Favre’s best destination was and Schefter said “It’s Tampa Bay or it’s you.”

Actual quote by Mike Tannenbaum: “Adam first brought the Favre idea to my attention and I definitely thought this is a pretty unique thing.”
