The tyranny of utopianism, has a long history amongst "the left"... Dowtoevsky's "underground man". The Underground Man

As Hegel said: "we learn from history, that we do not learn from history". Rousseau, Chernyshevsky, to Karl Marx. There is something of the Catholic world of empire, that seeped into French philosophies that manifested in the Communards, and were amenable to Russians who had come to associate French culture with leadership through the influence of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great. Soviet communism subtly invoked Russian imperialism: a kind of bait and switch of the serfs.

The similar bait and switch of "progressivism" is happening in the west, using benign specious notions of rights and freedoms as a trojan horse to impose tyranny, where the state is become the great paternal protector that Orwell warned us of, via IngSoc... English Socialism, that ironically seeped into the land created by English rebels to become steeped in Americana, and rexported around the legacy Anglosphere.
