NIL season has gotten crazy. I’m constantly seeing Tweets blaming fans for my school not getting players because we did not contribute enough to NIL. I mean, its a meme now. And it is everywhere. Like when Kyle asked randoms to donate $20K for her assistant’s medical bills.

I didn’t send money to Bob Odenkirk and Better Call Saul was AMAZING. AMC didn’t ask me to send money or Gus Fring would leave.

The good folks at /r/buccaneers/ never proposed the rich Bucs fans randomly send money to Joel Glazer so we could upgrade to Brady.

They took that money that they get from commercials and instead of sticking it in their pockets, or sending $10M a year on a coach, they paid their coach a third of that and use that money to get players. Radical idea. Maybe too radical for the NCAA right now.

So I have a suggestion:

Adopt the PBS model for CFB. I will become a member and send in money if I feel like it and you stop playing ads during the game. There is an average of 43 minutes of commercials in CFB games. Thats not including the promos for other programs during the broadcast or the announcers shilling Alabama and Notre Dame games.

That way we can all get what we want. Fans can directly support the players, colleges can continue to not pay for their labor, and we can get rid of all these obnoxious commercials in CFB games.
