So I live in Louisville Kentucky and you’d assume that would make it very red but i live in a city so it’s come play different than the rest of the state. I’m a 16 year old sophomore who goes to an inner city high school and majors in theater. If you know anything about modern education then you can see where this is heading. The people there are actually really nice and the first 3 months of freshman year went really well due to the fact that I hid my political beliefs. Though, at the time, I identified as a republicans and even, for a brief time, was a trump supporter but that lasted about 3 weeks. Anyways, it was nice, theater was and still is really fun. The trouble started when my friend, who was the closet one in my class, had asked me what I though about our current president (this conversation was in 2019) and I said I didn’t really like him and he was ecstatic dying how he was so terrible and o agreed. He then said that one of the 3 worst parts about trump was the fact that he was a free market capitalist and not a socialist and that is where the trouble started. I have my economic standpoint to him and he stared at me in confusion and then proceeded to question how I could agree to souls a horrific system. I then explained why capitalism was actually pretty good and he just scoffed at me. Word spread around about my economic standpoint and many people started to look at me in disgust. People then asked me how I could support capitalism and not like turbo and I then explained I was a libertarian. One of these people was like dude I totally get it, I’m a libertarian communist so I understand you. I looked at him in confusion asking if he understood what those two things were and he said yes and I just walked away. TO THIS DAY, he thinks we are EXTREMELY similar politically. The whole situation worsened when the BLM riots occurred and I disagreed with their methods NOT THEIR PURPOSE. People started labeling me as a racist. To this day i deal with this and while the original guy is still my friend, we often get into debates. The latest story is involving my English teacher when she said i was outright wrong in front of the class when I said Biden wasn’t any better than trump
