It is always exciting to hear about new ideas for the blockchain and related tech, realize problems that could be solved by the blockchain, and things in that area. However, what really depresses me and makes me realize how minimal crypto's impact on the world will ultimately be is the realization that most people cannot fathom doing things unless Daddy Government says it is okay.
For example, crypto greatly lowers the bar to, for example, obtain funding for projects, personal problems, real estate. However, thanks to the good ol' SEC, a vast majority of things enabled by cryptocurrency are illegal to do unless you've gotten the government's permission, obtained extremely expensive certifications, and gone through multi-year processes.
Of course, the SEC has no power over the blockchain, but a vast majority of people would never do something that the government hasn't decided you as a child (in Daddy Government's eyes) can safely use.
