We are trialling a new (potentially regular) thread in /r/soccer - similar to the popular “you are the ref” discussions on other football forums and outlets.

Each week (or whenever it feels relevant) we will choose one somewhat contested officiating decision and conduct a poll using the in-built Reddit function to gauge the /r/soccer consensus, and inspire further discussion.

If a success, the plan would be for the community to nominate decisions for a weekly thread - and we hope to cover leagues from around the world, using the expertise of the community (which is far more diverse than just the mods).

First up - the penalty awarded for Aston Villa in the 87th minute of their game vs Burnley, for Aaron Ramsey’s tackle on Jhon Duran.
