Here are the top 10 passing yard seasons by a left-handed QB in NFL history:
| Rank | Player | Season | Pass Yards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mark Brunell | 1996 | 4367 |
| 2 | Scott Mitchell | 1995 | 4338 |
| 3 | Tua Tagovailoa | 2023 | 4214 |
| 4 | Steve Young | 1998 | 4170 |
| 5 | Steve Young | 1993 | 4023 |
| 6 | Steve Young | 1994 | 3969 |
| 7 | Boomer Esiason | 1986 | 3959 |
| 8 | Jim Zorn | 1979 | 3661 |
| 9 | Mark Brunell | 2000 | 3640 |
| 10 | Ken Stabler | 1979 | 3615 |
Tua would need a couple big games, but he has an outside chance of tying Steve Young for most passing TDs in a single season by a lefty too:
| Rank | Player | Season | Passing TDs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Steve Young | 1998 | 36 |
| 2 | Steve Young | 1994 | 35 |
| 3 | Scott Mitchell | 1995 | 32 |
| T-4 | Frankie Albert | 1948 | 29 |
| T-4 | Steve Young | 1993 | 29 |
| T-6 | Boomer Esiason | 1988 | 28 |
| T-6 | Boomer Esiason | 1989 | 28 |
| T-8 | Frankie Albert | 1949 | 27 |
| T-8 | Boomer Esiason | 1985 | 27 |
| T-8 | Ken Stabler | 1976 | 27 |
| T-11 | Tua Tagovailoa | 2023 | 26 |
If Tua were to win a playoff game, he’d be the first left-handed QB since Tim Tebow to do so.
