I know I’ll probably be called an idiot for this but why is there so much talk about adding Virginia to the future “P2” conferences?

Virginia tech is in the same state and has a much larger student population as well as being much more passionate about football.

Is it about basketball? Then why not Duke? They’re a blue blood after all but no one seems to be talking about adding them even though Duke-UNC is one of the most legendary college sports rivalries of all time.

What about media markets? Then what about a school like Boston college, of course I know about the reservations of BC being a private school and Boston being a pro sports market, but Boston is still a massive market for sports and with enough marketing I’m sure you can attract some fans.

Then I guess the only thing left is it being about academic. Which I guess makes since, especially since that’s something the BIG10 looks for, but I still don’t see how that will make the mouse more money then VT would.

Sorry for the rant UVA fans but I’m drunk right now and like crabs in a bucket I’m a bit jealous of the consideration of your school being saved when my schools future is uncertain.
