This summer, the lovely folks at The Transfer Portal released their College Football 2023 Preview Guide. Amongst its fantastic writeups of things to watch for this season were predictions for every single FBS team, given as a “Ceiling”, “Floor” and “Realistic” predicted record for all 133 schools. Me being the bored recent grad with newfound free time and raging undiagnosed ADHD that I am I decided to record all of these predictions, and now that the regular season is over I’ve compared them to each team’s actual record. And so here for you all:

How every team shaped up to their expectations from these friends of the subreddit.

My biggest takeaway? Across the board it seems that the power five and more prestigious G5 teams were more likely underperform, while the teams that get the least attention and respect like those in the CUSA and MAC were more likely to overperform. Shoutout to this year’s biggest overachiever Jacksonville State, and this year’s biggest disappointments Baylor and Buffalo!
