It's really interesting that, after the biggest coordinated terrorist attack in U.S. history, everybody's first thought was "We clearly haven't given the biggest military force in world history enough money and power to do its job". Did anybody ask "what are we paying you idiots for, if you take billions of dollars from us and this is what we get?" Imagine if that's how my bosses thought. "You didn't get your work done this week and fucked the company over in a major way? Clearly you haven't been paid enough to do a good job. Our bad. Here's a raise." It's fascinating.
