I wanted to go through each WR ND recruited and signed between 2017 and 2023 and see what became of them. Here’s what I found:

2017:

Jafar Armstrong (4-star): Converted to RB in his second year, transferred to Illinois in 2021 to play WR then to Western Illinois in 2022 to play WR

Isaiah Robertson (4-star): played special teams as a freshman then got hurt as a sophomore, never recorded a catch, was hurt his entire junior year, medically retired then entered the portal but never played anywhere else.

Michael Young (3-star): Played 3 seasons for Notre Dame in which he had 17 catches for less than 200 career yards. Transferred to Cinci where he had nearly 60 catches and almost 700 yards in 2 seasons and played in the CFP.

2018:

Kevin Austin (4-star): appeared in 11 games as a freshman was suspended all of his sophomore and some of his junior year, was a budding star as a senior then declared for the draft and went undrafted. Never played an NFL snap.

Braden Lenzy (4-star): Never played as a freshman then played sparingly as a sophomore and junior. Was a top 2 receiver his senior and 5th year but finished his career with under 1000 career receiving yards and topped out at 32 catches and 350 yards in his senior year.

Lawrence Keys (3-star): Didn’t play as a freshman, had his career best game against UGA with 35 yards as a sophomore, played sparingly as a junior with a career long 20 yard catch in the Rose Bowl vs Alabama. Transferred to play in 2022 at Tulane where he had 30 catches for 296 yards. Had a big 2023 with 33 catches for 599 yards and 7 TDs.

Micah Jones (3-star): Did not play as a freshman, played 4 games as a sophomore and one game as a junior, never recorded a stat, transferred to Illinois State where he caught 2 passes. In law school at Tulane.

2019:

Kendal Abdur-Rahman (4-star): Did not play as a a freshman, moved to RB and played one snap as a sophomore, transferred to WKU where he played in 11 games in 2 years but recorded no stats.

Cam Hart (3-star): Was moved to CB as soon as he got to campus, will be an NFL draft pick this year.

2020:

Jordan Johnson (4-star): Recorded no stats as a freshman, transferred to UCF, played 5 games and recorded no stats, possibly took the year off in 2022 (cannot find any information), now is at Iowa Central Community College and had 20 catches this year.

Xavier Watts (4-star): WR was moved to safety as a sophomore then back to WR that spring to be switched to RB then back to safety, won the Bronko Nagurski award this year and is returning for another year in South Bend, will be a high draft pick at SAFETY. (ND fans might have to correct me on the exact order of position switches)

Jay Brunelle (3-star): never recorded a stat at Notre Dame in 2 years, did 2 years at Yale then finished his career with a 5th year at BC where he did not record a stat

2021:

Deion Colzie (4-star): 304 career yards at Notre dame, will likely be 6th or 7th on the depth chart in light of ND taking 3 transfers.

Lorenzo Styles (4-star): Was a promising freshman and sophomore recording nearly 700 yards total but had a falling out with coaches at the end of his sophomore year, switched himself to cornerback (where ND did not need any help) and then transferred to OSU.

Jayden Thomas (3-star): Red shirted his freshman year, had a 361 yard campaign as a sophomore with Drew Pyne at the helm then was hampered as a junior with a hamstring injury. Will be near the top of the depth chart if healthy next year.

2022:

Tobias Merriweather (4-star): the one person recruiting class of Tobias Merriweather.

1 catch as a freshman for a TD against Stanford (loss), had horrible yips as a junior catching only 58% of his accurate targets for 14 receptions and 284 yards. He is in the transfer portal expected to go to Washington.

2023 since I’m here:

Braylon James (4-star): played in 4 blowouts, had one catch, was clearly not the receiver staff thought he was, transferred to TCU.

Jaden Greathouse (4-star): 16 catches for 252 as a freshman, promising start to his career was hampered by a hamstring

Rico Flores (4-star): 27 catches for 392 yards, came along nicely as a freshman but entered the transfer portal when WR coach Chansi Stuckey was suddenly fired.
