As bowl season and Christmas time is upon us, there’s plenty to be grateful for at this time. All memes aside, why do you love your cfb team? Don’t throw shade at any other rival/team. For an occasional occurrence, let’s have a respectful thread. I’ve also a had a “few” beers, so lay off a mfer lol. I’m sincerely interested to know what made you love your own teams.
I’ll start.
There was once a time in this great country (talking like 30-40 years before I was born) when most cfb teams feared two little humble Midwest universities: Oklahoma and Nebraska. Opposing teams would literally line up against these two juggernauts who’s rosters were filled with many farm kids that first hopped on a combine by the time they were 12 years old. College kids who grew up producing their own dinner that their mothers set on the table later that night. The annual rivalry was a culmination of that work ethic put into a gladiator-like contest for bragging rights of harvest country. I didn’t appreciate it as a kid because the last time Nebraska won a natty, I was 5 years old. I didn’t grow up actually witnessing the glory years, but the history of why that still remains a sense of pride for the state has garnered serious meaning for me in my current life. Tradition is a real thing and should still matter to you now, however that tradition may have started.
