One of the things that annoys me the most about college football fans is how despite understanding that the pros and college are different, and despite knowing how a guy can be amazing in college and not a great pro, every “best team ever” debate just becomes about how many NFL players the team had, how they did in the NFL, how many years their NFL career lasted, etc.

Just because a guy became a great NFL player, it doesn’t mean he was great in college. Just because one college team had more guys who became great pros, doesn’t mean that they were better than another college team full of guys who didn’t become great pros. The debate is about the team as it was then, so how well a guy played at 32 years old on a totally different team in a totally different league shouldn’t matter.

Nobody is making Michigan Tom Brady they’re first overall pick in a college player draft. So let’s stop doing that.
