Bits that caught my eye:
ASMOF Vic - Public sector doctors
An online ballot of ASMOF members has narrowly endorsed a revised interim offer.
…
Doctors were due to strike for 12 hours today (21/10), but this has been cancelled.
TWU NSW - Certis
TWU members employed by Certis at Sydney airport have struck again. On Friday (16/10) workers walked off the job for 2 four-hour stoppages.
…
Certis is contracted by Sydney airport to provide security services, but job insecurity and low pay is leaving workers fatigued, and often working multiple jobs.
AEU ACT - Public school teachers
More industrial action is taking place in ACT’s public schools this week. AEU members are participating in rolling stoppages between 8:30am - 9:30am at different schools each day. This will result in reduced supervision, delayed preschool starts and possibly cancel camps and excursions. The Education Directorate is asking families to keep their child at home until 9:30am when possible, but school bus timetables will not be altered. Preschools will be closed during stoppages due to staffing ratios.
ASU Vic - Metropolitan Melbourne City Councils
ASU members at metropolitan Melbourne city councils continue their industrial campaigns as part of the ongoing multi-employer agreement negotiations.
…
This disrupted waste collection, closed libraries and affected other council services.
In short
NTEU NSW - University of Sydney
NTEU members at the University of Sydney will strike for 24 hours tomorrow (20/10). Workers will be picketing entrances to the university from 7am - 1pm. Key issues in the dispute include academic and intellectual freedom; change management; AI and teaching associate positions.
PABO Watch
RTBU NSW - Busways, Keolis NB and Transdev John Holland Buses
RTBU members at Busways, Keolis Northern Beachers and Transdev have voted in favour of taking industrial action. 85% of members participated in the ballot with 97% voting yes. The RTBU is attempting to win a Multi-Enterprise Agreement for bus drivers at the three companies in bus regions 7 (North-West/Ryde and Willoughby); 8 (Northern Beaches/North Sydney) and 9 (East/Port Botany and Randwick). These bus regions were run by the State Transit Authority until privatisation in 2021.

QLD Industrial Relations and Workers Comp Changes
Popping my bush lawyer hat on just for a second to flag that the Queensland LNP Government is putting forward changes to the Queensland state industrial relations laws. Of particular interest to readers of Disputes Report will be the proposal that the QLD IR Minister have the right to terminate industrial action. The proposed changes would allow the Minister to terminate industrial action in three circumstances:
- If it threatens to endanger the life, personal safety or the welfare of the population or part of it
- If it would cause damage to the Queensland economy.
- If it is in the public interest due to concerns about service delivery for frontline or critical services delivery.
…
It is certainly a red flag for workers when every business lobby group is in favour of the changes.
