With the 2023 Heisman top 10 announced, Caleb Williams has made history…

For the second time ever, the reigning Heisman winner has not made top 10 in voting despite playing every regular season game.

The only other Heisman winner to come back, play every game, and not make top 10 in voting was Vic Janowicz of Ohio State in 1951. Janowicz gained 331 yards on 115 plays when he won the Heisman in 1950. Under first year head coach Woody Hayes the next year, Janowicz accumulated 502 yards on 113 plays, but strangely missed out on the top 10 entirely.

The two other players to have won a Heisman, come back the next year, and miss out on top 10 in voting are Sam Bradford in 2009 and Mark Ingram in 2010. Sam Bradford played only 3 games in 2009 while Mark Ingram played 10 of 12 regular season games in 2010, both due to injury. All other Heisman winners either left college or finished top 10 in voting the following year.

Only Caleb and Vic are a part of this exclusive club.
