In the wake of CFP Committee controversy, the BCS days of yore have been remembered through rose colored glasses. “Go back to the old system, the only thing wrong with it was that there were only two teams!” has been thrown around in many threads. But believing the BCS to be a flawless system is at best the product of a short memory. Throughout the BCS era many controversies led to changes in weighting and methodology of the computer polls. Not to mention obvious conflift of interest in acknowledging the coach’s poll, where coaches (or their staffers) had free reign to vote strategically with their own team’s status on the line.
So lets get more creative than stick with the committee or back to the BCS. Twelve team playoff, top four get a bye. How should entrants and seeding be decided?
- Conference Champions? How many and how can you seed them?
- Who gets the bye weeks?
- Computer Polls? What stipulations placed on them? How many polls?
- AP Poll? Coaches Poll? CFP Poll?
- Committee? Who sits on it, what are their criteria?
