Almost all (92%) of the trusts that responded said they had no contingency plan to tackle supply problems and 82% said they had not reported the scarcities they were facing to NHS England.

On one hand, shortage of basic nonprescription drugs like paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid is huge cause for concern.

On the other hand, not talking about it makes it worse.

TFA talks about how there needs to be resilience in supply chains but doesn’t actually address how it’s possible to run out of two of the most commonly used drugs in the world, which is the real news item here. Is it underfunding leading to under-ordering? Is it a production problem? Is it a Trump problem? Who knows, we just need more bureaucrats to spend more time planning.
