  Id say if youre a guest, just behave. But sitting inside all day w/o entertainment during your vacation is ass too. i can imagine he didnt know this happens during his stay until staff notified him and he escalated. 1 year jail for that is wayyyy to harsh. Make it a fine. Use the dollars for something nice.
