I’m fine with alcohol killing me slowly.
How about we talk about all the “preventive medicine” drugs where doctors ignore or severely downplay the risks, like BP meds?

Whenever I hear this it’s always some holier than thou person.
Yes, alcohol is bad if you’re an alcoholic and you can’t stop, or find the need to drink. If you do it too much sure.
“But alcohol is a poison”. Yes. One that we haven’t enjoyed for millennia. The pharos enjoyed it. Jesus enjoyed it. We continue to. We are also aware of the health risks. However, we also choose to enjoy life a little.
Feel free not to partake, but the annoying “its killing you” is a big eye-roll from me. I’m going to continue drinking socially, and I really don’t care if it shaves a few years off.

I agree. Its a poison but one we can largely tolerate. I have drank throughout my life but honestly every year the doc asks if I drink and im like. yeah but. I am not opposed to drinking. I might have a drink at any time depending on the situation but like I can go over a year without having a drink and don’t generally drink anymore. My wife and I will buy a liqour bottle and it will take years to go through it.
