With the departure of the common conference villain of Texas (and to the lesser extent OU), the Big 12 now lacks a team that is universally hated by every member of the conference. However, it probably won’t be too long before a new team emerges as the common conference enemy.

While I doubt any of the teams will ever have the resentment that Texas had, who will be the ones most likely to get close?

My nominees:

Utah: Strictly based on on field results. Lots of resentment will come if the Utes come swinging and claim the title in their first year of Big 12 play

BYU: Mostly about the institution itself since from what I have seen, the cougar faithful are really trying to make a good first impression with the rest of the conference. I’m sure the Holy War will bring the worst in them though

Baylor: I don’t think I need to explain this one to be honest. Baylor is absolutely the frontrunner for this designation in my opinion

Kansas: Already the villain of the conference in basketball, resentment will build up very quickly if the Jayhawks also manage to also make the football conference title run through Lawrence as well

Central Florida: Social media antics of theirs will definitely build up resentment with the conference. Combine this with better results for the knights in the future, this is a rather easy nomination
