This is a weekly thread to discuss football in the Big 12. Discussion should be limited to football in the conference.

Week 11 Results
  • Texas Tech 16 - #19 Kansas 13

Tech had the lead the whole way, then Kansas came back to tie it with 25 seconds left to seemingly take the game to overtime. However, Tech had other plans and marched right down the field for a last second walk-off field goal. It was too little too late for Kansas, who didn’t score until the fourth quarter. The last few minutes were pretty sloppy, but Tech comes away with a W over the Jayhawks, who are down to their third string QB. This might do it for Kansas’ title hopes, but they’ve still got a solid season even with all of the injuries.

  • Kansas State 59 - Baylor 25

This game went as expected. Don’t look at the 25 points and think they meant anything. After a competent-looking opening drive, we returned to form as KSU took their frustrations out on us. We can’t seem to do anything right. We can’t even kick a PAT. And now we’ve gone and screwed up the Revivalry. That 2021 season feels almost as far removed as the Briles years.

  • UCF 45 - Oklahoma State 3

Again, just as we all expected. Apparently the space game magic carried over into the P5. I don’t even know what to write. I pity the fool team who has to face the Citronauts next.

  • #17 Oklahoma 59 - West Virginia 20

This outcome is probably about what we would’ve predicted at the beginning of the season. OU bounces back from the loss at Bedlam to make a final push for postseason success.

  • Cincinnati 24 - Houston 14

Cincinnati gets their first victory in the new conference. This was a pretty good blow to Houston’s chances at making a bowl game, but they’re not out of it yet.

  • #7 Texas 29 - TCU 26

Another case of too little too late. Bert Auburn’s fourth quarter FG was enough to seal the victory for the Longhorns, who have fended off all the others to have the lone #1 spot at the top of the conference. Unfortunately for Texas this win came with a price - RB Jonathon Brooks tore his ACL. You hate to see that, especially for a team that still has eyes on the CFP.

  • Iowa State 45 - BYU 13

Iowa state clinches bowl eligibility in Provo. Looking at the box score, the differnce seems to have been made on third downs. ISU went 8 - 14 while holding BYU to just 1 - 11. Both schools have tough final stretches upcoming, so it’s gut-check time.

Rivalry Week?

It’s kinda/sorta rivalry week. We have THE REVIVALRY. I’ve read that this is all TCU’s fault for not wanting anything remotely resembling religion. This makes perfect sense, so we’ll continue to blame TCU. Maybe this will ignite the fanbases to return to the good years of hate like with Briles and Patterson. However, we both suck this year, so it’s difficult to get excited for this likely beatdown in Fort Worth. Further up I35, however, Kansas and Kansas State have a big game on the line. If my late night math is correct, then both schools still technically have a shot at making the CCG. This should be a much more entertaining game, anyway.

I look at data from CFP Resume Rankings on Twitter (@CFPResumeRanks) to help me with the tiers. It’s a data driven evaluation of resumes mixed in with strength ratings, which is what I was trying to do anyway. It’s not far off from where I already was.

Championship Picks

This is likely going to be an exciting final month of the regular season with respect to the Conference Championship Game. Texas now sits alone at the top of the conference, and remains my pick to win the conference. We now have a 4-way tie for second place and then a 3-way tie for sixth place. We could have some big time drama if there’s a large tie for second place (or even if we end up with a large tie for first).

It’s time y’all start throwing out picks for who makes the CCG and who wins it all. My pick is Texas over OSU.
