The only schools that are safe are the ones that are already on a level better than Texas A&M. Alabama, Georgia, etc.

Everyone else? Clench.

Power 2 schools are probably a little bit safer than the rest. Kalen DeBoer and Dan Lanning could definitely go chasing a massive payday, but they’ve both got a pretty good thing going with their respective teams and the move to the Big Ten next year. Both of them are most likely going to be ranking in the top 3-4 of the conference for the foreseeable future. The competition and opportunities to play on the national stage is equal in the Big Ten as the SEC, so they’re not really leaving anything on the table since they’re already at the highest level. Well, maybe except a lot of money.

The big danger is to all the schools in the Big 12 and ACC that have a good coach. Mike Norvell, Mike Elko, Lance Leipold. Sonny Dykes could even be on the list. These schools are all just trying to keep quiet and hoping this evil spirit passes them by. They’ve got to really hope their coaches are content staying in what most people are saying is the “2nd tier” college football league. I think some of these guys would actually stay. But not all of them. Not for this kind of opportunity. Who will it be?

And of course there’s a huge risk to the schools that are getting relegated. Jonathan Smith at Oregon State will be on the list. Yeah he’s an Oregon State guy, but the resources and paycheck that A&M can offer will be enough to turn anyone. Especially when faced with the prospect of going down to G5.

You all better be hoping Urban Meyer comes out of retirement and saves you from this nightmare. Because A&M is going to get any coach they want.
