Original Title: When head coaches travel for games, they bring their local police officers with them no matter where they are traveling to… what jurisdiction do these cops have that allow them to operate in this special capacity?

Just a question I have thought of from time to time, especially after a game and the coaches go for the handshake… and was wondering if anyone had any specific information on?

Are they basically just body guards but are wearing official police uniforms in this case?

I am a practicing civil attorney but I am not nuanced in this as others may be.
