The son of British right-wing politician Rupert Lowe has reportedly married a Muslim woman of Libyan descent, raising eyebrows given the Restore Britain founder’s frequent anti-Muslim and anti-immigration pronouncements.
Reports in legacy and social media have suggested that the wedding of Angus Lowe to Yasmin Mezran took place last week. She is the daughter of Karim Mezran, a Libyan academic and senior fellow at the Washington, DC-based Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East.
Social media posts also suggested that the wedding ceremony offered halal options for guests, which also surprised social media users, as Lowe had made numerous “pledges” to end halal slaughter in the UK, as part of his anti-Muslim campaign.
A repost on X by Karim Mezran, whose account is verified on the social networking site, also seemingly confirmed that his daughter’s wedding to Lowe’s son took place.
