I’ve watched this once thru some years back and was blown away. Thought Andrew Garfield was a terrible actor until I watched this. Just a very good series all around. I did have one question tho, maybe I’m looking too much into it but if someone can give me some insight I’d be much obliged. In the first episode, while they are doing the big Lafferty dinner and introducing Brenda, their neighbor shows up. This neighbor explains that in 48 hours if he doesn’t have a bunch of rocks picked up on his property, the government is going to seize his land to build a high way. So they all get together Mormon style and pick up like a pickup truck sized load and call it good. Can someone just expand on that so it makes sense? Like if the government came to me and said “hey if you don’t go out and fill that pickup truck bed with rocks from your land, we’re gonna take it” I would tell them to go shit in their hat. And I understand the reasoning for removing the rocks for farming sake, just confused on the forcing aspect of it. Thank you!!!
