  Drowning in shallow waters is extremely common, more than you’d expect. Panic probably plays a large role in it.

  Yea, I don’t know how you drown in one, they’re very shallow. So shallow canal boats have a draft of 2-3 ft and still often have to stick to the center to avoid grounding or dragging along the bottom.

  So yea, something in this story doesn’t add up.
