Euphoria season 3 might genuinely be the biggest creative collapse in HBO history. At this point, the plot barely exists. Episodes feel less like storytelling and more like disconnected fetish scenarios stitched together for shock clips on social media.

And before people start acting like criticism automatically means “you’re offended by sex,” that’s not the issue. HBO has made some of the greatest adult dramas ever. this season has nothing underneath it. No emotional grounding, no coherent character arcs, no thematic payoff — just escalation for the sake of escalation.

The Sydney Sweeney giant scene is the perfect example. Watching her smash a building window with her chest felt less like satire or surrealism and more like the writers brainstorming “what insane thing will go viral on Twitter tomorrow?” It’s not provocative because it says something. It’s provocative because it’s random and loud.

Earlier seasons at least balanced style with substance. Rue’s addiction, Jules’ identity struggles, Nate’s violence — there was an actual emotional core beneath the hyper-stylized presentation. Now the show feels like it’s parodying itself. Every scene is trying to outdo the previous one in terms of shock value, but none of it carries emotional weight anymore.

Euphoria Season 3 feels like a parody of itself. The saddest part is that Euphoria used to feel culturally relevant because it captured loneliness, insecurity, addiction, and performative identity in a generation raised online. Now it just feels algorithmically engineered for screenshots, discourse, and horny edits.
