TV series have been producing 100 episodes for a long time, and since the 50s/60s, it has been the mark of reaching a point of syndication (even though syndication has come for plenty of shows with fewer than 100 episodes).
But sometimes, shows do something big for their 100th, especially more modern shows. For example, Psych’s episode which was an homage to the film Clue was their hundredth. *30 Rock’*s “100” was a two-part episode for 100 and 101. Even ER sort of did it with a subplot in “Good Luck, Ruth Johnson” celebrating the hospital’s 100th year of operation.
What was the first series to treat the number 100 episode with some kind of special reverence?
