I thought it would be to shine a light on the wonderful voices some actors have by bringing attention to their singing. I’m excited when I learn that someone I’m familiar with because of their acting is also a skilled musician and/or singer, so to start the conversation I’ll share some recent examples I’ve come across:

Nana Visitor sings “Fever” in an episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine (episode title “His Way”). Her rendition is so incredibly good that I did a web search for it, and the auto-complete seems to indicate that a lot of us trekkies wanted to know if it was really her or if it was lip synced (spoiler: it’s really her).

Katey Sagal sings “Son of a Preacher Man”, “Bird on a Wire” and others for Soms of Anarchy soundtrack. If you just think of her nagging-wife voice in Married With Children, you’re missing out. Her singing for the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack is just divine.

Scott Grimes sings in at least one episode of The Orville (though to be fair he might be known in some circles for his singing since his song “Sunset Blvd” broke the top 20 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart). Another great example of a good actor with a great voice.
