I was born in 96 and I grew up in a world where the internet was a carefully husbanded resource. Something that you got from outside sources at libraries or, and I’m dating myself even more here, cybercafes. There was just tv and movies. And the latter was bifurcated by antenna and basic cable. If you were a kid, there was nothing worse then being exiled to the backwaters of analog tv after tasting the bright, colorful worlds of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.
It meant watch educational tv like PBS kids. Which, god love them, weren’t what I was interested in. Sorry between the lions 🦁 or that show about teenagers in the American Revolution. The only good thing about it was Saturday morning cartoons which felt special because of how barren the tv landscape was.
But that’s all gone. We’re in a world of dreaming now and endless content.
