It’s a horror anthology series produced by RL Stine targeted to younger audiences like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark, that aired on the channel The Hub (now Discovery Family) in the early 2010s. I watched Goosebumps and AYAOTD as a kid but was not familiar with this show until I came across a YouTube video on it. Decided to check out a few episodes and gotta admit this is surprisingly good with genuinely creepy episodes. It blows away Goosebumps and even betters AYAOTD. Some stand out episodes are Scarecrow which involves a Scarecrow causing the end of the word and delivers true existential horror, The Girl In the Painting, where a girl wishes she could enter a painting which seems to depict a perfect world, and when she does, she faces a truly horrific fate, or Dreamcatcher, where kids at a camp are terrorized by a Freddy Krueger like creature. There’s also Uncle Howie, where Tom Kenny plays a Pee Wee Herman type character that comes to life and terrorizes a boy who was mean to his sister. Scary Mary, which does a more kid show friendly version of the Bloody Mary urban legend where a girl is kidnapped through a mirror so Scary Mary can remove her face. The Dead Body, where a ghost tricks a kid into trading places with him in death, and my personal favorite and most shocking, Pumpkinhead, where a farmer cuts off kids heads and replaces them with pumpkins! It seems kids actually die in this show. I actually think this show might be too scary for kids and don’t know if young kids especially should watch this, But as an adult, this is a pleasure and I will check out more episodes. It’s a shame this show ran on a rather obscure network because if it aired on a channel like Nickelodeon or Freeform, it would likely be more well known and talked about today.
