If I asked the question on here “Who is the best college quarterback that never made it in the NFL?”, the resounding answer is probably going to be Tim Tebow. He frequently appears in discussions of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time, but NFL fans really only remember him for that one game against Pittsburgh. In 20 years, young NFL fans who don’t follow college will probably have never heard of him. I’ve been an NFL fan since about 2004, but I’ve studied a lot about NFL history. I’ve only started following college football the last few years and don’t know much of the history.

So I’m going to ask the old heads who remember the pre-2000 days of college football: who was the best pre-2000 quarterback who NFL fans will have never heard of?
