People can still afford brands I’ve been living of supermarkets own brand stuff for years now as I can’t justify the expense.

Radio Caroline - British owned

Twinings - British owned

Cadbury - American owned

Bass - Canadian/American owned

Burberry - British owned

Transport for London (TfL) Roundel - British designed

Calpol - not a single product, just the British name for paracetamol

Mini - German owned

BBC - well, who knows at this point

So that’s not a great track record for our most iconic brands.

  Calpol is a children’s brand of medicine.
  
  It is remembered fondly because it tastes nice and we’re not allowed it after we get too old and we just have to swallow bitter tablets instead. But all British children remember pretending to be sick so they could have a spoonful of joy
