When looking at dominant college football programs, most of America’s regions tend to have at least one historical power program in their region.
South: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee
Midwest: Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan
Southwest: Oklahoma, Texas
Great plains: Nebraska
Westcoast: USC
Florida (I don’t know if people consider Florida part of the south or not): Florida, Florida State, Miami
But there isn’t really a college football program in the northeast region that stands out which is interesting to me as when the Ivy league was still in division 1 football, schools like Yale and Princeton which were in that region dominated college football. And even in the NFL, northeast teams like the Giants and Patriots are very popular which means football is still one of if not the most popular sport in the region. So why is it that the region lacks a college football power.
