The investigation was launched following a complaint filed by a 20-year-old student. There is also a charge of revenge porn regarding images shared in the team’s chat group
On May 30 of last year, there was a celebration for Bra’s historic promotion to the top division; now, a trial is set to begin regarding a gang rape case in which three football players are accused. The victim is a 20-year-old student from Turin who attempted suicide after the assault.
It all reportedly began during the party, when the young woman met one of the players and followed him to the apartment where he lived with other teammates. When he proposed a group sex act, she reportedly refused, but found herself “subjected to multiple acts of group sex,” as stated in the investigation documents from the Asti Prosecutor’s Office, coordinated by Prosecutor Davide Greco. Videos and photos from the evening were then allegedly shared in the team’s chat group. The student immediately sought help at the anti-violence center at Sant’Anna Hospital in Turin and filed a complaint. Charged with gang rape are Fausto Perseu, 24, from Rome, now with Giulianova; Alessio Rosa, 23, from Tivoli, now with Ligorna; and Christ Jesus Mawete, 21, from Mondovì, who later moved to Livorno. One of the three also faces a charge of revenge porn. Livorno is expected to suspend Mawete from the roster until the end of the season. This would be the second such case in three years, following the Lucarelli-Apolloni incident.
