Every single character is a caricature of their season 1 self. Everyone is talking like a therapist and knows just the right thing to say and make motivational speeches. They all (even Brian) had some edge to them in season 1 which is all but gone.
Some characters that are still good/tolerable
- Sean
- Alice
- Alice’s friend (she’s been a great addition)
- Jimmy (everyone’s punching bag so makes sense I guess)
- Dereks (too saccharine than previous seasons though)
Everyone else is unwatchable, especially Liz. Ford is giving a great performance, but the way Paul treated Jimmy was just terrible writing.
I bailed on Ted Lasso after season 2 (and turns out that was wise), but will probably stick with Shrinking.
