Everyone always talks about the stunners being a bad thing. The game you had no business losing where the team didn’t even show up.

We can talk about these games, but I feel like we don’t see enough respect for the good stunners. The games that you thought would be close but your team went out there and took the opponent behind the woodshed. The games you didn’t think you’d win but you played perfectly and came out on top. As a fan, those are my favorite types of games, because it’s a different level of happiness when your favorite team wins a game in a way you did not see coming.

So let’s hear the good and the bad from everyone. What results shocked you?

I’ll start with both of my teams:

Ohio

Good: 2024 MAC Championship vs. Miami

We lost to them earlier in the season, but we got hot at the end of the year and set up a rematch in Detroit. I was there with a group of friends and we were expecting a close game and the Bobcats went in and blew them out 38-3. First conference title in over 50 years. And then our coach dipped for a small pay bump in Charlotte on the bus ride home. Fun times.

Bad: This year vs. Ball State

How do you lose to Ball State? This one was particularly bad because we really could have used this win for a chance to head back to Detroit. Sigh.

Ohio State

Good: 2025 CFP Rose Bowl vs. Oregon

There are so many games I could name for this one because Ohio State does this weird thing every now and then where they drop everyone’s expectations so low and then just turn into a machine. The 2014 Big Ten title game, 2018 against Michigan, 2019 against Wisconsin, 2020 against Clemson, 2021 against Michigan State - all wild results that I did not see coming, but I’m going with the game that established the Bucks as a legit threat to win the whole thing. Everyone was expecting a down to the wire instant classic. It was 34-0 in the second quarter.

Bad: I think we all know
