I’ve watched The Sopranos and Breaking Bad probably five times each at this point, and honestly, it’s kind of depressing that nothing else really comes close.

Don’t get me wrong, there are amazing shows out there. Game of Thrones was incredible, but I’ve never felt the urge to rewatch it. It’s just not as easy to casually put on, and at times it feels a bit too heavy. Chernobyl and Band of Brothers were outstanding, but since they’re so short, I almost see them differently. Better Call Saul was also great, but for me it doesn’t quite have the same rewatch pull.

But those two, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos are just on another level. The atmosphere, the characters, the emotions, the music… everything about them just hits perfectly. They’ve got this unique charm that’s hard to explain but impossible to replace.

And with a lot of newer shows something just feels off to me. They feel colder, badly acted, overproduced, less authentic. Not as easy to just throw on and enjoy. Sometimes it feels like they’re trying too hard or pushing certain themes instead of just focusing on telling a great story.

Am I the only one who feels this way or is there actually anything out there now that comes close?
