I was discussing the massive national debt and the economy as a whole with a coworker recently. I briefly explained my view that, with the ceaseless printing from the Fed and a bunch of extra spending, we are headed toward some shit like in the early 70's.
He took a drink of his red bull, looked me dead in the eyes, and said, "Yeah, but money isn't real anyway, so it's not like it matters, right?" And walked off.
Mind you, this guy's "schtick" is being a smart-ass. He just blew off 300 years of economic theory with "mony IsNt ReAl."
It's almost like some kind of media conglomerate has pushed a set of messages for so long that people have begun trusting what the news says more than what their environment and analysis tells them. Hm. Strange.
I can't say "money isn't real" to the old man that works at Kroger because he can't afford not to.
People think the economy is some kind of fucking game that only rich people play. No, fucker, we are the economy. You're only fucking yourself. You better lube up, cause $15/hr is a big one.
