I don’t know why I was thinking about it, but I thought about how the Boston College-Michigan State game was so fun and exciting, despite it being between two teams that ended up winning a combined 6 games.
I feel like there are a lot of instances of great games between bad teams, but what about the inverse? A terrible game between two teams that were great/elite?
What’s the worst game you can think of that was between two great teams? The first example that came to mind was the 2015 Michigan State-Ohio State game, which was a bit of a slog due to weather, MSU playing 2 backup QBs, and some WTF offensive playcalling by the Buckeyes. Michigan State ‘made’ the college football playoff that year, and I believe that was Ohio State’s only loss of the season.
