Was wondering about this this morning. After looking up a couple of guys who I thought might be high-earning career backups, the “best” I’ve found so far is:
Chase Daniel who earned $55.5M over 13 seasons while attempting only 273 total passes for the Saints, Chiefs, Eagles, Bears, Lions, & Chargers. Meaning he earned $203,500 per pass attempt in his career.
For comparison, Deshaun Watson, with career earnings north of $230M, has earned just over $100,000 per pass across his 2,300 attempts.
Can anyone think of anyone who earned more while playing less?
