Frasier is one of those classic 90s sitcoms I’ve never fully gotten into aside from some random episodes on tv over the years. I decided to make it my next show to go through beginning to end.

And I’ve pretty much been binging it nonstop over the past week or so because it’s just amazing. I’m almost done season 3 and I actually think that it might be my favourite comedy show period outside of Arrested Development. Like AD, the writing and dialogue are just incredibly clever, witty and layered. Its also delivered by some elite comedic actors - David Hyde Pierce steals every scene he’s in and Kelsey Grammer is amazing as well. I love that the show constantly pokes fun at Frasier and Niles for their uppity pretentiousness but also portrays them as genuinely intelligent people. The side characters are all amazing as well, and their interplay and relationship with Frasier adds a lot of depth and wholesomeness to the show.

I also really love the set design, especially Frasier’s apartment. It has such a cozy, comforting vibe to it.

Watching Frasier also makes me sorely miss these long-running comedies where you have 6+ seasons and 20+ episodes each season. I feel like this is a format that’s pretty much extinct these days and it’s a damn shame because I find that this is how you truly get invested in a show and its characters. It’s also nice to know that when you pick up one of these shows you have a shit ton of content ahead of you as opposed to like, 2 seasons of 8 episodes with the 3rd coming in 3 years.
