Randomly rewatching Silicon Valley and wow, I completely forgot about Jared’s parents.
Jared, who grew up in an orphanage, sought out his birth parents. The parents say how difficult a decision it was giving him up but the timing just wasn’t right (insinuating he was their first kid). It turns out, he was the third child and they gave him up to simplify traveling (4 is easier than 5 with air and car travel).
But then, they mention that after giving him up, they realized they made the biggest mistake. They realized they actually did want a third child and started trying immediately. And they lucked out, because Donald is the best of the bunch (Jared’s real name). They loved the name and wanted to use it again. Then when his three siblings show up, they don’t introduce them to their brother, they lie and say he’s a salesman and kick him out because they have a family dinner.
I know it’s a comedy, but that is some seriously messed up shit lol.
