Hey all, I had a really long lay-off for months due to a big surgery and I managed to rewatch a whole bunch of my favourite TV shows in a row. Succession, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Americans, The Sopranos and the Wire. It was amazing and I don’t regret a second of it. But by the end of it all I was feeling a little exhausted by the moral depravity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s totally a case of ‘it’s not you, it’s me’. Those are great, pretty much perfect shows. I just found myself tiring a bit of the main characters being serial cheaters, selling drugs, killing people, etc.
SO, I’m in need of a bit of a palette-cleanser. I love a show with complicated, multi-dimensional and flawed characters in them. But after my huge marathon rewatch of the above shows, I think I’m ready for some characters whose flaws are just “they are kinda judgmental” or “they can be a bit rude”. In other words, like your every-day asshole.
What’s the best show where the main character fits this box, where I can enjoy their negative, toxic traits without feeling like I’m watching a total fucking monster of a human? LOL. I’ll take any suggestions guys :)
