What is your list of the top 10 funniest CFB stories/scandals we’ve had so far from 2000-2025?
The ground rules from the original post were:
- Must be actually funny and not tragic (i.e. no players harmed, no deaths, etc. Leaving out Penn State from this list.)
- Only off field shenanigans. Funny in game incidents like the Cleat Yeet deserve their own thread.
- Coaches and fan involved stories are fair game, as are graduated players, but not currently active players.
My list is something like this:
- Pole Assassin’s Monkey (2021)
- The Michigan Manifesto (2023)
- Jim McElwain’s Shark (2017)
- Joey Freshwater (2015)
- The Poisoning of Toomer’s Corner (2010)
- UNC’s Fake Classes (2010-2012)
- Wakeyleaks (2016)
- Pruitt Crootin’ with Cash in McDs bags (2021)
- Petrino’s Motorcycle Ride (2012)
- Bishop Sycamore High School (2021)
Why 2000-2015?
There was a previous thread 13 years ago that included serious scandals and spanned all time, but it feels like another century has passed since then.
reddit.com/…/how_would_you_rank_the_biggest_colle…
And another one 12 years ago that also included serious stuff + all time: reddit.com/…/bestmost_entertaining_college_footba…
And another one from 9 years ago: reddit.com/…/what_are_the_biggest_cfb_scandals_th…
So I think we’re due for an updated list, and can stick to just the funny ones.
