Team: New York Giants
Division: NFC East (2-4)
Record: 4-13
Playoffs: First team eliminated from playoff contention for the second year in a row (Week 12, 2-10)
Quick History:
Over the past decade the Giants have had two seasons with winning records, two playoff appearances, and one playoff win. For the other eight seasons, the Giants had double-digit losses.
Accolades are few and far between for a team that lost their franchise faces and frequently loses their remaining key players to injury.
But maybe this year will be different?
2025 DRAFT
Round 1, Pick 3: EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State. With Cam Ward and Travis Hunter off the board, this pick was a no-brainer. An excellent edge rusher to pair with Brian Burns should help provide some much-needed relief for All-Pro NT Dexter Lawrence and recreate the destructive defensive line the Giants were known for.
Round 1, Pick 25: QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss. A trade-up that most mock drafters predicted, the Giants traded their second round pick and two third rounders to the Texans to get their guy. Jaxson is primed to sit behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to learn and develop in a safe environment start Week 4.
Round 3, Pick 65: DT Darius Alexander, Toledo. If the Giants can’t have a franchise QB, then no one else will.
Round 4, Pick 105: RB Cam Skattebo, Arizona State. An absolute unit of an RB, Cam looks to pair his Brandon Jacobs wrecking ball build with current RB1 Tyrone Tracy Jr. Cam would suffer a season ending injury Week 8.
Round 5, Pick 154: OL Marcus Mbow, Purdue. The Giants chose not to pick up Evan Neal’s fifth year option, leaving his future in hot water. Mbow would replace injured starters at both tackle positions.
Round 7, Pick 219: TE Thomas Fidone II, Nebraska. An interesting choice, as last year’s rookie TE Theo Johnson was looking to finally find his role in the offense before injury prematurely ended his season. Fidone features as more of a pass-catcher, but will surely bulk up in the NFL.
Round 7, Pick 246: CB Korie Black, Oklahoma State. Looking to fill out a weak room for Big Blue. Korie finally saw the field in Week 8 after the entire starting secondary was injured.
QB Russell Wilson. Started three weeks.
QB Jameis Winston. Named emergency QB3.
OL Greg van Roten, re-signed. The only Giant OL to not miss a snap in 2024, playing at RG and C.
OL Aaron Stinnie, re-signed.
OT James Hudson, signed from Cleveland. Named starting LT due to Andrew Thomas’s lingering Lisfranc injury. Benched for setting the NFL record for most penalties by a single player in one drive (4) Week 2.
WR Darius Slayton, re-signed. Tied fellow rookie AJ Brown in TDs and caught Eli Manning’s final TD pass.
S Jevon Holland, signed from Miami. Injured Week 7.
CB Paulson Adebo, signed from the Saints. Recovering from a broken femur early in the 2024 season. Injured Week 7.
LS Casey Kreiter, re-signed.
P Jamie Gillan, re-signed.
KEY LOSSES
S Jason Pinnock. Signed with San Francisco.
DT Azeez Ojulari. Signed with Philadelphia.
PRE SEASON
Week 1, Bills vs Giants. W, 34-25.
Week 2, Jets vs Giants. W, 31-12.
Week 3, Patriots vs Giants. W, 42-10.
The Giants are the eighth team since 2009 to have a 60+ point differential in preseason. Two of those teams won the Super Bowl (2009 Saints, 2013 Seahawks), and 6/8 made the playoffs (the exceptions: 2024 Bears and, well).
SEASON
Week 1, at Washington
Cam Skattebo bowled over grown men in the open field, but the offensive line couldn’t block anyone. The defense showed up with three sacks and an Abdul Carter punt tip, but surrendered over 400 yards. Eleven snaps and multiple penalties inside the 10 and the offense only achieved three points.
With this, the Giants took over for the Colts as the worst Week 1 team since 2011, going 2-13. The Giants became one of three teams to score 6 points or less in their season opener in 3 straight seasons, joining the 1940-42 Lions and 1922-25 Bears.
Micah McFadden suffered a season-ending foot injury in the first quarter and was placed on IR.
Giants lose, 21-6 (0-1 in NFCE, 10th pick in the 2026 Draft.)
Week 2, at Dallas.
LT Hudson was pulled after the first drive with 4 penalties - the first player this century to do so on any drive. A 67 yard opening kick return was negated by penalty, a 24 yard rush was negated by penalty.
The Giants could not get out of their own way, and after earning 170 yards on 22 of the first 25 plays and two red zone drives…they came away with 6 points. Giants had 9 penalties in the first half, their most in 25 years.
The Giants are the only team since Week 1 of 2024 to not convert a 4th down in the red zone.
Jaxson Dart would make his first NFL appearance on a handoff to Skattebo, who would score his first NFL TD on the next play.
The Giants have now lost four consecutive games against Dallas when scoring at least 30 points. Giants had 503 yards of offensive (with an additional 3 yards in OT), their most since 2011 against….the Cowboys.
There have been seven total game winning or tying 60+ yard field goals in NFL history. Four of them were against the Giants (Jake Elliot, 61 yard 2017 and NFL Rookie record, Graham Gano 63 yard 2018 to tie the NFL record, Greg Joseph 61 yard 2022 and longest in Viking history, Brandon Aubrey 64 yard 2025).
The Giants start 0-2 for the 11th time in 13 years.
Giants lose, 40-37 (0-2 in NFCE)
Week 3, vs Kansas City, SNF.
The offense went through Cam Skattebo, who led the team in rushing yards, receiving yards, receptions, and TDs (1).
For the third year in a row, kicker Graham Gano got injured in pre-game and we didn’t have a replacement. The extra point attempt by punter Gillan got blocked.
On first and goal in the red zone late in the 4th quarter, Russell Wilson: Intentional grounding, rushed up the middle for three yards, and threw the ball out of bounds twice. He hit the crossbar on fourth down.
This marked the seventh game since the 2024 season the Giants scored under 10 points. No other team has more than three games under 10 points in that timeframe. Nabers was held to 13 yards on 39 routes, the first time in his career he was held to under 1.0 YPRR in a game.
Giants fall to 2-19 in primetime since 2019.
The Chiefs won their first ever game against the Giants on the road. Ever. First in franchise history.
Ever.
Giants lose, 22-9 (0-3, 5th pick in the 2026 Draft).
Week 3.5, the Koo d’état.
Jaxson Dart is named the starting QB, and Giants signed kickers Younghoe Koo and Jude McAtamney to replace injured Graham Gano. Jude would win the starting job.
The Giants took an early lead off Jaxson’s first rushing NFL TD and a career first Dexter Lawrence interception, but then reality crept in. Malik Nabers tore his ACL in the first half, ending his season. Jaxson was called to the blue tent, and Wilson used his second chance to end the drive on his own terms - a sack and a pass well short of the sticks.
A second interception by Dru Phillips set up a Theo Johnson TD reception, and a penalty set up a Skattebo two-point conversion to go up 21-10.
Brian Burns had a critical 3rd down sack with 3 minutes left to play and the Chargers - missing Alt, Beckton, and Slater - had no answers for the Giants pass rush.
Giants became the first 0-3 team to beat a 3-0 team since 2008, and beat the Chargers for the first time since 1998. Burns and Carter are the first Giants teammates with 4+ QB hits each in game since 2005.
Giants win, 21-18 (1-3)
Week 5, at New Orleans.
The Giants had two TDs on their first two drives for the first time since 2020, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome 95 penalty yards and the league’s worst case of butterfingers (5 turnovers) since 2016. Slayton dropped a deep ball and fumbled away his next touch.
A comedy of errors had the Giants lose 3 fumbles - the first time since 2020 - and end five straight drives in a turnover, the first since the 2016 Jets.
Spencer Rattler clinched his only career win in the NFL.
Giants lose, 26-14 (1-4, 8th pick in the 2026 Draft.)
What a time to be a Giants fan.
The Giants offense showed up, scoring more than once in the 1st quarter (first time in 87 games, since 2020) with Jaxson Dart showing incredibl…
